Hello! I'm Tara, and I look forward to working with you and learning about your story.
Here is a little bit about my story: I'm a social worker, military spouse, mother, sister, and friend. I have an eclectic love of all things nature, animals, books, dance, exercise, science, and love adventures with my family.
I grew up in Idaho, full of imagination, with nature as my backyard. Life brought hardships, and those obstacles also paved the path for my desire to share what I’ve learned with others and support them.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Social Work in 2016 from Boise State University, along with my master’s in Social Work from the same university in 2017. I have over five years of experience as a grief counselor within palliative/hospice care and working with adults/families in crisis in a medical setting. I opened my own private practice, Lyon Therapy, PLLC, in early 2024 and since then, I have continued to expand. This too has been a journey of amplifying my knowledge of EMDR and Brainspotting practices with anxiety, phobias, complex PTSD, and life transitions. I am a forever learner!
I have an approach fully rooted in leaning into what it means to be your authentic self, fostering the unique resources contained within all of us. Life is full of transitions, complexities, and beauty which all shape our beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and the story we are currently writing. I work from a holistic and trauma-informed lens recognizing how we grow, learn, and cope is affected by our environment and the beliefs we have about ourselves. I definitely know this firsthand within my own life’s grievances, challenges, and resilience. It's not always easy, and we are so capable. Together we will work toward achieving your goals through EMDR & BSP therapy and from a variety of mind/body modalities depending on you and your situation.
When I am not working within my practice, you will find me with my wonderful spouse, two beautiful daughters, and two sister yellow labs running amuck. We love the outdoors with creative outlets and love the uniqueness of being an eclectic family full of nerdy things & hobbies.
