EMDR and Brainspotting

  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing  (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy technique that utilizes bi-lateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, pulsars...etc.) to activate the problem solving parts of the brain. At the same time enhancing more positive beliefs about oneself. This is done through 8 phases of treatment. Read more about the phases here

  • Brainspotting (BSP) is a focused psychotherapy method to locate, focus, and process adverse experiences using bilateral sounds and specific eye positions.

  • Most often when individuals think of EMDR or BSP they think of trauma. However, EMDR and BSP therapy is used by therapists to treat a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, attachment issues, and other mental health disorders.

  • Its different from traditional therapy in that there is no requirement to discuss in detail distressing experiences, it rather fosters the natural healing process within the brain instead of working to change behavior or thoughts alone.

  • It addresses the psychological and physical symptoms of distressing or traumatic events occurring from adverse life experiences.

  • It's not just for trauma but enhancing positive beliefs about self and/or for performance enhancement.
